MUA POWER POUTs in Runway and Crazy in love Review and Swatches

MUA POWER POUTs in Runway and Crazy in love Review and Swatches

Guest Post By: Tejinder Kaur
Hi all!!

On my latest shopping visit to the Superdrug store, I was looking for the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. Having picked up few of the shades, I bumped into the MUA power pouts which are dupes of Revlon Lip Balms n Clinique chubby sticks. Although I had not tried any of these, I couldn’t resist but to go for the MUA cute chubby lip balms which were only £3 compared to Revlon ones at £8. I am glad I did that and here I am with the reviews of two MUA power pouts I bought in Crazy in love & Runway.

MUA POWER POUTs in Runway and Crazy in love Review and Swatches

Description of shades: Crazy in Love: A deep red berry shade
Runway: A Coral shade - red with an orange undertone
Both shades are daily wearable, very affordable and perfect for summer and spring.

About the product: MUA Power Pout is a lip treatment with colour intensity that relieves dry, cracked lips providing immediate moisturization. The handy pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for easy use.

Ensure you have the most kissable lips this spring and kisses they will remember forever… Our new colour intense lip tints will ensure your lips will look good enough to kiss!
Having tested the products, I couldn’t agree more.

My Thoughts: When I first applied on the lips they were very buttery n creamy in texture and highly moisturising. The feel of the lips balms was amazing and fresh with a mint fragrance which I like a lot. But those who are not that keen on minty smells won’t be able to notice it after a while as it tends to fade. The Balm is retractable so easy to use and apply on lips. It does not stay longer on my lips, goes in an hour or two but stains stay slightly longer. Wasn’t really a problem for me as I love re-applying for that fresh & mint fragrance. Thoroughly impressed with these cuties, I took one of my best friends to Superdrug store to try these and she liked them a lot too and has since bought a few; guess I need to stock up as well. Both are wearable shades and make lips look fuller & pouty.

Packaging: It is a thick plastic stick with a metallic end that you have to twist to lift up the product. No wastage of product while sharpening. The body of sticks matches with the colour. MUA power pout is embossed in silver colour on the body and there is a white sticker pasted on the cap mentioning the colour name. Packaging is mostly identical to Revlon Lip balms and is travel friendly.
Pigmentation: Pigmentation is OK for a lip balm. Two or three swipes build up the colour. It does not dry your lips but needs retouch up to make lips sheerer. I don’t like to touch-up the lipsticks but with lip balms I believe it is not a problem.
Texture: Texture is very buttery n creamy. Beware of the melting part as it can create mess if the cap gets loosened in your purse, particularly in hot weather. Unfortunately learnt that the hard way after one of those loose caps made the mess in my purse! Little extra care is advised. Below are the lip swatches. top crazy in love and bottom one is runway!

Pros and cons of MUA powerpouts

Pros:
Pretty shades
Super Moisturising
Very Buttery n creamy in texture
Affordable
Minty, tingly taste while applied but fades away quickly
Glides smoothly on the lips
Easy application using retractable body
Non-sticky and very light weight
Colour transfers easily across the lips
Leaves behind an even tint while fading
Suitable for all skin tones
Cons
Not highly pigmented although not expected from a balm formulation
Limited range of shades
Stays no more than 2 hours
Can be messy when melts in hot weather particularly with a loose cap in purse as you can see in the pictures.

Here is the picture where I am wearing Cazy in Love:

Final Verdict:I love these lip balms/stains I think they are the perfect light pop of colour for the spring n summer. I just wish that they lasted a little longer, although it left a pretty even tint and a visible stain on the lips sans the gloss effect. But for just £3, you can’t really go wrong and should pick more shades (6 in total) from their collection: Rendezvous, Irreplaceable, Crazy in Love, Runway, Justify and Broken Hearted (from deep berry to hot pinks to nudes) which would suit everyone. You ought to have at least one in your vanity.

Have you tried MUA Power Pouts?? Which colours u own?

  17. OoH.. I am so glad I saw this!!! ... I just could not figure out which shade to get as they somehow look different on the British Bloggers... I thought Crazy in live would be a dark plum but I see that its a very pretty shade. I shall skip Runway as I have a Revlon Just Bitten Lip stain in Romantic...
