I will review Bio Oil in this post. You might have seen its ads where it claims to lighten marks and combat dryness for younger looking skin.

Before, zooming on this product, you may be noticing that for the past couple of weeks, I have become really inconsistent in posting makeup tutorials, eye makeup or related to that. Actually, I have been busy with some other work and such posts require a lot of time, that’s why, I am missing out on them. Really sorry, I promise, I will be back to those posts soon. Anyways, coming back to Bio Oil. I have seen Bio oil used by a lot of foreign Vloggers. So, when it was launched here in India, I was really excited to use it, actually more for my mum. Bio Oil has been priced at 450 rupees in India and it is available at Nykaa.com

The oil comes in a fat short bottle with a white cap. I find the color of this oil to be very interesting and unique. It is a pale florescent orange that shines.

Bio oil smells like scented or perfumed hair oil. While I sniffed it, I could recall and relate the same smell with hair and care hair oil that one of my brothers uses and the interesting or coincidence is that the Hair and care is a Marico product and this Bio oil too has been marketed by Marico in India.

It claims to lighten and reduce the scars, stretch marks, Uneven Skin tone, Aging skin, dehydrated skin etc. Check the ingredients on the pack along with the claims.

Now, I have a couple of instances to share that should throw more light on the efficiency of this product.

Around 6 months ago, I got burned around my wrist while cooking and the marks that I had very quite dark and pigmented. So, after I got this bio oil, I used some of it every night before going to bed and now after 3 months, I can notice that the marks have been faded. They are there but not visible much. Thus, it has proved to be quite effective then not using anything.

I have pigmentation around my jawline which I have always wanted to get rid of. I already have oily skin and this fact has made me think a lot before using it on my face. But you can’t find a gem without trying, So, I tried it just on my jawline and within three days, I could see, they were there, I am referring to tiny boils like breakouts. Lesson learnt!!

It clearly is not meant for oily to combination skin at all. Not all oils are bad for oily skin, I mean oils like avocado and some other oils are lighter and will not clog pores or breakouts, so I was under the impression that it may be like that, But it isn’t.

For me, I will try it only on my body and never on the face, till the time my skin doesn’t become too dry and that will perhaps take a lot longer.

At the same time, my mum whose skin is very dry, mature with some age spots. She has been using it since I bought it and she has not seen any significant changes. May be minor changes are there but nothing noticeable apart from the hydration that it gives to her dry skin.

I think Bio Oil can be a good option for scars and marks like stretch marks but not an efficient product to be used on the face whether it’s oily to combination skin like mine or dry, mature skin like my mother’s.

I still have it and I am going to use it on the marks that I have. I have heard that it shows great results in stretch marks but without testing I can’t say for sure.Price is okay as it will last really long.

Take: Bio Oil is a very light textured, perfumed non sticky oil that has faded and lighten my scars quite significantly though as it claims to even tone the skin, I have not seen much of an improvement. And also it's not for oily to combination skin. For dry skin, it can be used to hydrate the skin but there too no visible results were noticed. If you don’t mind the price and would like to use it as a scar lightening product then go ahead else skip.
