Tutorial for smokey eye makeup with berry eye shadow

Tutorial for smokey eye makeup with berry eye shadow

Hi everyone!!
I was damn tired today due to which this tutorial is late by 6 hours. :D I will share this tutorial for smokey eye makeup with berry accents. More than the tutorial I would like to show this technique which I find is easy and doesn’t require blending skills which obviously isn’t rocket science, as make up is a form of art that you can enhance by mere practice and a little bit of understanding.

So, I’ll start with the steps here:

1. I used an eye primer as usual and read HERE for why it is used and couple of other eye makeup related tips and tricks.
2. Now, the different technique starts, I have used a kohl like Elle 18 that isn’t hard to blend and doesn’t get smudgeproof like Maybelline colossal or eye conic by lakme. You have to just apply the kohl/Kajal light handedly over the crease and the outer corner.
3. Take an eye shadow brush and lightly blend the kohl, doesn’t need to be perfect. Here I have not used a blending brush as I think blending brushes are softer to blend the kohl and also they can get dirty even before you finish your eye makeup.
4. On the area, where I just did the kohl blending, I applied a matte black eye shadow.
5 Now, this step will require your blending brush, you have to just dip it in your matte dark brown shadow and just apply it over where the black eye shadow ends.  Did this as when you apply a dark brown over the black, it saves you from blending the black and also a brown shade makes the black look less harsh. See the difference between step 4 & 5

6. This step is just a touch up sought, where  have applied more black and extended it till the half of my lids and added some more brown.
7. Now, I applied a little bit of shimmery berry colored eye shadow on the inner half of my lids.
8.  I took some more and patted it with my fingers for a bit blended look. If you have realized we have not done any blending so far.  I applied the same matte black and brown on the lower lashline.
9. I finished the look with 2- 3coats of mascara.
I was not well when I did this, and think this look lacks a bit of neatness so, please concentrate more on the technique. :D
Here is the final look:

Alright, now, I would like to mention that I have used that berry coppery shade but you can use other shade as well may be a gold or coppery or even matte shades.
His look is for those who don’t wanna blend as the only place we did blending was the kohl which you need not to do perfectly as it will only act like a base for the black matte shadow. Now, the question why we have used kohl we in anyways we had to use a black matte eye shadow? As I mentioned the kohl acted as a base and even if the matte shadow erodes it will not appear patchy.

Now, why we used the brown, I used it so as to reduce the harshness of the black as honestly, I cannot sport a look which is extremely bold looking and also that dark brown shadow makes the black look blended and subued. I took the pictures with flash else the faint boundaries of brown and black were not there in natural night! You can wear this look for traditional outfits with any lip color as it is more on the neutral side.

Hope you like the technique and the look!
Have a great day!! <3
