Special Edition Kajal Review
Hey all!
Indian teens generally start their foray into the
makeup world with the simple kajal. Something that the Western society
associates with mysticism and sultriness, due to its “smokey” nature. I was never a very great Indian teen since I only
started using kajal in my 2nd year of college (almost a year back) and even
then, I wasn’t a huge fan. I really hated the racoon like look that most of my
friends would sport by the end of the day but I am still fascinated by kohls
due to their intense pigmentation and the allure of that elusive sultriness. The
product I am now going to review is the second kajal that I have ever
purchased. Read on to see if I found my HG Kajal.
Price: 575 INR
Packaging: This kajal comes in the regular Indian kajal packaging. The conical
product feels slightly waxy and looks very glossy. The transparent lid is a
shade flimsier than I would prefer, but it is pretty travel safe. It is easy to
locate in the vanity too, due to the legible package writing.
My take on
the product:
I am not a fan of this product, I am really not. I don’t hate it but
there’s nothing to be excited about this product. Kajals are traditionally
really dark smudgy products that are used on the waterline, this kajal doesn’t
really function as one despite looking very “kajal like” it is not pigmented at
all. In fact, it doesn’t show up on my waterline, despite repeated swiping that
just lead to my eyes watering excessively. It’s a pain to smudge, thanks to its
incredibly weak pigmentation.
It costs a bundle and didn’t function as a kajal so I
now use it on my lower lash line and set it with a little black eye shadow, to
make it last. I also use it as a base for my smokey eye looks, for which it
works perfectly. While I have made this work pretty well as a multitasker, this
product is a huge disappointment and I expected better from The Body Shop
cosmetic.
But despite it all, it does last for a very decent 5-6
hours on my lower lash line and offers more control than a traditional kajal,
due to its slightly waxy consistency. Frankly, they should have just called it
a smokey eyeliner or something, because I think it will work pretty well as
one, just not as a kajal.
